What is the difference between a "One Month" and a "Monthly Withdrawal" membership?
A "month" membership is for a single month. It expires one month from the date of purchase. To renew your month you must come into the facility and pay the $50 or $60 per month rate again. You can pay with cash, check, or debit/credit card.
A "monthly withdrawal" membership is an automatic deduction from your debit or credit card. It never expires and will keep deducting until you cancel your membership. This membership can only be purchased using a Visa or Master Card.
How does the $19.99 a monthly membership work?
The $19.99 a month membership is what we call our withdrawal membership. The monthly fee will be deducted off of your credit or debit card on the first of the month every single month. We only accept Master Card or Visa. To obtain the $19.99 per month rate there is an enrollment fee. Currently, the enrollment fee is $60.00 but it subject to change. The membership does not expire until you choose to cancel it. There is no cancellation fee and you do not have to have the membership for a certain period of time.
If I purchased the monthly withdrawal membership in the middle of the month, would I pay for the entire month even though I only got to use the facilities for half of the month?
No, when you sign up you will pay the enrollment fee plus tax along with the pro-rated amount for the rest of the month in which you sign up. For example, if you sign up on the first of the month, you will pay for the entire month and enrollment fee so it will be $84.80 total. If you sign up on June 15th you will only pay from the 15th on plus the enrollment fee.
How do I Cancel/Freeze a Withdrawal Membership?
To stop the automatic payment, you must send written notice ( recommended through certified/registered mail) to:
Iowa City Fitness
P.O. Box 928
Iowa City, IA 52244-0928
The written notice must be received by the 25th of the month prior to the month you wish to cancel. For example, if you wanted to cancel for March, your letter must be received by February 25th. Memberships cannot be terminated via email, phone calls, or in person at the facility. We need a written document stating you would like the payment terminated.
Why does the written letter have to be mailed? Can I drop it off at the front desk?
No. The letter does not come directly to the gym's address, it goes to our main office first to be processed and put a hold/cancel on your card.
Why does the letter have to be mailed certified or registered mail?
It does not HAVE to be. This is simply recommended. Sending something certified/registered allows for you to be given a tracking number and receipt so you can make sure the letter is recieved. A manager will have to sign for the letter and you will have proof it made it to the right spot. Without any kind of receipt or proof of delivery, if we do not receive the letter there is no way for you to be refunded/canceled after billing for the current month is processed.
Why would my monthly withdrawal membership automatically be terminated?
If your credit or debit card comes back invalid or declined your membership will automatically be canceled. If you get a new card due to expiration, fraud, or for any other reason please notify Iowa City Fitness immediately to avoid any additional charges.
